People usually have to fear what we do not know. I think this is one of the main reasons why many SMEs are still reluctant to grow their business through online marketing. I present the 4 most common excuses.
Sometimes I think I’m speaking another language when I have the opportunity to talk with managers of SMEs on the subject online marketing. I agree with Antonio Gimeno when he says to be evangelized is still much to understand the need to be on the Internet to sell more. Although there is still much training the most common excuses are not acceptable to me so I want to summarize and respond directly to them:
Our customers are offline, we have in Spain some 27 million Internet users with 40% of online shoppers. We are still far behind other developed countries like USA, UK or Germany. Displaying the growth rates of electronic commerce there is a huge opportunity for companies that decide to open an online store. If you really think your customers are offline is because it may already be buying from your competition.
We do not have web: for advertising online is not absolutely necessary (although recommended) to have a website. Companies like Coguan offer advertising formats that allow the collection of emails, phone numbers or print coupons directly through the banner.
We have no banner, in a previous post I described how anyone can create a banner without being a designer or have programs like Photoshop. With most programs we have installed on our computers we can design a banner in 5 minutes.
We have no budget, no marketing budget of an SME does not sell online. With a budget of 50 Euros and can be made small-scale actions. These tests serve as learning to discover what works. When we get the results we are happy to spend on advertising because it helps you sell more.
